Mary Ann Lagud

Mary Ann Lagud, 76, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 at her home, her resident of Grandview, Missouri for 49 years. She was born 11-21-1936 in Kansas City, Missouri daughter of Frank and Louise Sims.  Mary was preceded in death by husband of 59 years, Joe Lagud Jr., survived by her family and their spouse, John, Julie, Fred, Joe Morgan and Hanna, Jason, and grandchildren; Terry, Chad, Crystal, Mallory, Travis, Toby.  Great grandchildren, Gage, Brittany, Alexis, Cadence, Natalie, Bryson, Angela, Elliot.  Also surviving are sisters; Donna Clark, Margie, Merrell, and brothers; Don Sims, Frankie Sims.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Ruby Stauffer, Ted Sims, and Jim Sims.  And Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  She worked for Kansas City Rug Co., Hallmark Cards, and retired from Richard-Gebaur Air Force Base Officers Club after working as a waitress for 25 years. She love to cook and have family picnics, traveling, and camping.  She was fun, caring, opened her home to everyone, and devoted her life to her family. Her kindness and loving nature touched more hearts than could ever be mentioned.  Thank you to all who shared in her life.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  Mary and her family wishes to recognize the excellent care of Crossroads Hospice of Kansas City and their wonderful staff.  In llieu of flowers please send donations to the American Stroke Foundation.  Mary has donated her body to The National Body Donor Program, Inc., for Medical Research.  She will be interred with her husband, Joe, at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.

    Mary was such a beautiful person. I will always cherish sitting and listening to her stories. She could always make me laugh. She will be very missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Julie anf the rest of her family.

    I love you great grandma Mary. i will miss you so much. i wish i had spent more time with you. I never expected this so soon, you seemed so much like yourself the last time i seen you. You always spoke your mind and you were so nice and funny. I hope you are happy where ever you may be.

    I’m sorry to read of the loss of Lagud. My thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Psalms 147:3 says God, “is healing the broken hearted ones, and is binding up their painful spots.” May God bring you comfort and peace.
