Mary Evelyn Dawes, 79, of Lee’s Summit, MO, formerly of Raytown, MO, passed away July 9, 2005, after a long illness. Memorial Services will be held in the Rose Garden at Unity Village in Lee’s Summit on Sunday, July 24, at 7 p.m. Ashes will be interred on Saturday, July 30, at 9 a.m. at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions towards a memorial plaque for Mrs. Dawes at Powell Garden, 1609 NW US Highway 50, Kingsville, MO 64061. Mrs. Dawes was born August 24, 1925, in Marshall, MO, to Charles H. and Willie Lucille Eades. She graduated from Marshall High School. On December 24, 1942, she married Robert P. Dawes of Slater, MO, who preceded her in death on June 13, 1997. Upon return from service in World War II, they moved to Raytown, MO. Together they operated Dawes Construction Company for 40 years. Mrs. Dawes, an interior designer, worked for several design shops as well as on many Designer’s Show Houses. Mrs. Dawes was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, the local Gamma Chapter of the Theta Chi Gamma Sorority and First Baptist Church of Raytown. Surviving family members include: daughters, Janice L. Beck, Columbia, MO, and Katherine D. Jones, Lee’s Summit; grandchildren: Trisha Beck, Adam Jones and Natalie Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Eades, Kansas City, MO; sister, Ms. Charlene Norris, Wellsville, KS; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
