Mary Easterday

Born Dec. 6, 1910 in Salina, Kansas to Walter Roy and Mary Ann Sheneman. She attended public school in Cheyenne Wyoming and the University of Wyoming. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Alpha Iota, having recently received the seventy-year award. She was a past president of Cheyenne chapter of Job’s daughters and a fifty-year member of Eastern Star. She married Kenneth Lee Gottschall and moved to Kansas City in 1937. They had three children, Kenneth Gottschall Jr. of Belleville, Ill., Walter Keith Gottschall of Kansas City, Mo., Maryanne Woelfer of Ellicott City, Md. and one grandson, Kenneth Gottschall III of Castaic, Calif. Betty was a member of many music organizations. Her music career started in Savanna Ga. where she played piano for a weekly radio program. She taught and played organ for many churches and music functions. In 1968 she married Malcolm R. Easterday. They traveled extensively, visiting many countries, including some which are now prohibited. She was a member of the American Legion Band and the Overland Park Civic Band for thirty-three years, performing at National Conventions and summer concerts, including a concert tour of England and Scotland in 1999 with the Columbia, Mo. Community Band. For many years she taught organ privately and for Jenkins Music Co. Memorial Services will be held 1:30 PM April 13 at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church 9300 Nall Ave. , Overland Park, Ks. 66207
