Mary Evelyn Welsh

Mary Welsh, 74, passed away peacefully August 13th at the Kansas City Hospice House. Mary was born Sept. 16, 1939 in Lima, OH where she graduated from Elida High School. She joined the U.S. Air Force in 1960, resigning when she married John Welsh on March 17, 1961 in Ft. Worth, TX.  After completing his service, the couple moved to Kansas City to make their home.  Mary was a dedicated housewife and devoted mother to her four girls.  Mary was a long- time member of the Lima American Legion Auxiliary, an avid antiques collector, a fan of Elvis and Kenny Rogers, and enjoyed bargain hunting.  Mary is survived by her husband John, and her four daughters, Deborah Welsh, Lori (Ron) Gist, Karen Welsh Ashcraft, and Jennifer (David) Hundley; brother Edward “Bud” (Evie) Hartley, and the grandchildren Grace, Kyle, Lily, Jacob, Taylor, Joey, Ryan, Abby; 2 great grandchildren Anthony Hundley and Jordan Le; sister-in-law Evelyn Chamberlain.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlotte (Marvel) Armentrout and Edward Hartley; brother, Robert “Bob” Chamberlain; sister, Diana Lyn Armentrout.  Funeral services will be Saturday, August 16, 2014 with visitation at 10am and memorial service at 11am at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice, 1500 Meadow Lake Pkwy, Ste. 200, KCMO 64114.

    Love you Mom, very hard to believe you are gone but you are in peace and without pain. I am so very thankful for being by your side in these last few weeks and knowing the comfort it gave you. Blessed to you hear you say ” Love you Karen” the other day. Love you, Blessed for you are in God’s house now
