MARY JANE THOMPSON

MARY JANE THOMPSON, 86, OF NEW BLOOMFIELD, MO PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY, FRIDAY JULY 14, 2023 AT HER HOME WITH HER FAMILY BY HER SIDE. SHE WAS BORN IN DIXIE, MO ON AUGUST 23, 1936 TO THE LATE ADRIAN “AJ” AND BRAXIE (BOYD) CAVE. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND, NORMAN L. THOMPSON, OF 68 YEARS. THEY WERE MARRIED ON MAY 27, 1955 IN NEW BLOOMFIELD MO.

MARY JANE WORKED FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR 15 YEARS AND HELPED WITH THE FARM RIGHT BY NORMAN’S SIDE. SHE ENJOYED SEWING, MAKING QUILTS, COOKING, TAKING LUNCH TO THE FIELDS FOR THE MEN, AND BEING WITH HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS, AND HER DOGS CASSIE AND SHERI. SHE IS KNOWN AS MAWSY TO EVERYONE. SHE NEVER KNEW A STRANGER AND SAID “THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR ONE MORE AT THE TABLE.”

SHE IS SURVIVED BY: HER 3 CHILDREN; J. DAVID THOMPSON, NORMA PRIEST (SAM), AND DANA THOMPSON, ALL OF NEW BLOOMFIELD, MO; HER SISTERS; SUE FERGUSON, EMMA LOU WASSMAN, AND ELIZABETH DOTY; AND HER BROTHER JIM CAVE. SHE IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: HER BROTHERS; JOHN T. CAVE, JESS CAVE, AND JOE CAVE. SHE HAS 5 GRANDCHILDREN, 7 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND MANY COUSINS, NEICES, AND NEPHEWS.

VISITATION WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 26, 2023 AT 10AM WITH SERVICES FOLLOWING AT THE NEW BLOOMFIELD CHRISTIAN CHURCH. PASTOR JOE GIBSON AND REVEREND MARION MITCHELL WILL BE OFFICIATING. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE. CONDOLENCES CAN BE MADE TO THE NEW BLOOMFIELD CHRISTIAN CHURCH OR HOSPICE.
