Mary “Janice” (Walters) Simmermon

Janice Simmermon, 83, passed away at her home in Blue Springs, Mo on October 21, 2020.  No specific cause of death, not Covid 19 related.

Janice was born and raised in Holden, Missouri. She worked at many different companies over the years, and retired from Waste Management, Inc., as office manager at the local landfill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Harold Walters (5/30/1955) and Ona Mae (Walters) Craig (10/21/1975).

She is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Rodney Glenn Simmermon, her son’s, Sheldon G. Simmermon (Karla) Blue Springs, MO., and Shannon E. Simmermon (Gina Kephart) Independence, MO. Her sisters, Doris Raber (Sam) of Holden, MO., and JoAnn Meek of Blue Springs, MO., and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She and Rodney spent several years during their retirement wintering in the South Padre, Texas area and made many friends from all over the country during that time period.

She will be cremated and requested no services. A huge cat lover, it would mean a lot to her for donations to be made to the Independence Animal Services, 21001 E 78 Highway, Independence, MO 64057. They were instrumental in helping Mom with the feral cats living in their neighborhood, that she eventually helped feed and cared for.

Janice will be much missed. We love you and know you are in God’s arms and loving care, and no longer suffering and in pain.
