Mary Joanne Loftis, 83, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away June 19, 2021, at Ignite St Mary’s in Blue Springs. A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.
Mary was born Mary Schaefer on May 23, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Ruskin High School, she was employed at the IRS, and later at the Marine Corps Finance Center, until retirement in 2003. She enjoyed traveling, crafting, reading, flower gardening, playing games, working puzzles of all kinds, photography, and spending time with family.
Mary is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Angie and Dave Sullivan, and Lisa and Brian Cox; four grandchildren, Jacob Hoy, Heather Hoy (Sean Brockhoff), Chael Loftis (Dasha Guzman), and Lindsay Cox; and three great-grandchildren, Kayden, Liam, and Carter Brockhoff; a sister, Jackie McKee, and a nephew, Rick McKee.
Mary’s family would like to express their gratitude to all the dedicated staff at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Ignite St. Mary’s in Blue Springs, and Village Hospice for their exceptional care.
