Mary Michael Endicott

Mary Michael Endicott, 73, of Columbia, passed away on Friday morning, July 20, 2018, as a result of complications from more than a two year struggle with rapidly developing dementia, as well as with various physical challenges.

In accordance with her wishes, the will be no formal services.

Mary Michael leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of nearly 52 years, Jack Endicott; step-grandchildren Stephanie Tinker, Payne Brockert, and Joey Brockert; siblings Jeanne Marie (Bob) Perkins, H. Thomas (Linda) Auer, Elaine (Larry) MacDonald, and Christine (Warren) Meachem, as well as sister-in-law Jill Arvin and a number of nieces and nephews.  She also leaves many dearly held friends made over her lifetime.

Mary Michael was an accomplished cook and an artist in several mediums.  She opened her heart to many pets throughout her life that needed love and a good home.

Mary Michael remained a cheerful, engaging, generous, and beautiful soul in spite of dealing with her disease, as well as three spinal fusion surgeries in 2018. Her Catholic faith was a source of strength and hope during her long battle.  As she declined , she often talked of being reunited in heaven with her daughter Laura Rebecca, who preceded her in death in 2013, and with her parents who passed in the last few years.

Special thanks are owed to primary care givers Amanda Garrison-Lucas and Oy Chemm who provided loving care and attention every one of her final months.  Thank you also to all the staff members of Hospice Compassus for all their compassion, assistance, service, and knowledge.

Memorials can be made to your local food bank, local animal shelter, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary at 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741-5000 (www.bestfriends.org) or to your favorite charity.

Missing you, my dear college roommate. What joys and sorrows we four have shared these past 53 years. Dennis and I have always loved you, Jack and Laura. Seems fitting to quote Winnie the Pooh, as I did when Laura passed away. We know how she adored Winnie. “If there ever comes a day, when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there FOREVER.”

Forever in our hearts, Peggy and Dennis Schupp

I have just learned of these losses. I was the best man at Jack and Mary Michael’s wedding. I lost my wife of 46 years, Dec 12, 2016. I know the pain, the loss. And Laura too. There are no words. Ironically in September, I just moved back home from Delaware to Blue Springs, Mo. I was hoping to make contact for renewed friendship. I am quite devastated.
