Mary Stella Hernandez

Mary Stella Hernandez, 69, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away April 11, 2019 at home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held at 5:00-7:00 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society in Raytown, MO. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lee’s Summit, MO. Burial will be held following the service at Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery in Lee’s Summit, MO.

Mrs. Hernandez was born December 5, 1949 in Kansas City, Kansas.  Mary dedicated her life to her family.  She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  Her family was privileged to have her care for them with love and sopa.  Mary expressed a strong desire to make the world a place where her children and grandchildren could thrive, a better and more just world.  She had strong opinions and a wicked sense of humor that brought joy to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Macario O. Salazar. They are now reunited in heaven, and we are comforted knowing that they are together again.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse D. Hernandez; their children, Jesse Hernandez (Tina), Laura Hernandez, Erica Hernandez-Scott (Darcell), Jessica Hernandez (Damien), and Gina Villalobos (Austin); and their grandchildren, Jay, Marissa, Desiree, Alicia, Aiyana, Jade, Acelyn, and Karl.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mac and Velia Scholarship Fund and/or the American Cancer Society.

Mary, knowing that we will not see your beautiful smile breaks our hearts but, knowing that your dad is there to hug you and take away your pain once again is how we will except this. Your mom, brothers, sisters, husband, and all of your children will miss you. As the days pass and our family continues to get together you will never be forgotten. We love you so much Mary.

  23. Jeanne Strange on April 16, 2019 at 9:13 am

My heart went out to your family for the loss of Mary. I loss my mother over 10+ years ago. But I found comfort in these few scriptures. I hope they find comfort for you during this difficult time.

Psalms 37:9,-11,29 9 For evil men will be done away with,j
But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth.k

10 Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more;l
You will look at where they were,
And they will not be there.m
11 But the meek will possess the earth,n
And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance
29 The righteous will possess the earth,i
And they will live forever on it.j

Please look up these scriptures in your own copy of the Bible. It will give you confidence you will see Mary again under righteous condition where she is no longer sick but restored youth and healthy. If you enjoyed reading about this hope, you can read more of God’s great plans for our future at http://www.jw.org

    Jesse & Tina & Family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I know this is a very difficult time, especially with losing Uncle Chap just 3 weeks prior. Try to be strong for each other, but at the same time take the time you need to grieve both together and individually. You have such a strong bond that I know you will get through this. I’m here when you need me.

My condolences to you and the rest of the Hernandez/Salazar family.
