Matthew Thornton, 33, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully at home February 2nd 2019 . He was born in Kansas City, Missouri April 10th 1985 to David and Debbie Thornton. Growing up he was a very active child who often liked to make people laugh. Matt attended Raytown Schools and enjoyed playing soccer in his youth. He was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan regardless of how well the season was going.
Matt was proceeded in death by: Grandpa Delmar Thornton, Grandparents Arthur and Goldie Guy. Uncle Harold Thornton, and Cousin Therine Jordan.
He is survived by his parents, David and Debbie Thornton, sister and brother in law Lisa and Doug Goucher, 1 niece Sophia, 4 nephews Nathan, David, Jacob, and Hudson. Grandmother Vivian Thornton. Many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held at 10:00am February 8, 2019 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am February 8, 2019 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society. Burial will be held following the services at 2:00pm at Thornton Cemetery in Clarksdale, MO.

Words can’t even begin to express how sorry I am to hear about Matt. I have so many memories of you talking about both of the kids all the years we worked together, they were the highlight of your life. Please know that you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am here for you my friend.
Matt was a lways a pleasant and polite young man. He would stop in the flower shop to visit and check on everyone’s well being. His gentle self will be missed.
