Maxine D. Brown

Maxine D. Brown, 95, of Independence, Missouri passed peacefully in her sleep on April 16, 2021. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 23, at Oak Hill Cemetery, East Pine Street in Butler, Missouri.

Maxine was born on August 18, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked for the Research Seed Company for over forty years where she made many valuable and lasting friendships. She enjoyed her retirement years traveling, gardening, reading and spending time with friends and family. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. As a member of the Independence YMCA she made many friends and participated in a variety of their activities.

She is preceded in death by her two infant sons, Johnny C. and David C. Dowell, and is survived by two daughters Patricia Gerrans and Diane McMillian, son David Brown; four grandchildren, Joseph Hutchens, Elizabeth Kohne, Nathan and James McMillian; and six great grandchildren, Cory and Kaylee Hutchens, Anna and Maya Kohne and Colin and Kileigh McMillian.

Memorial tributes are suggested to Ascend Hospice in lieu of flowers.

    So sorry about Maxine. I worked with her for seventeen years. We became good friends after my dad passed and her dad passed. I kept in touch with her until last year when her phone number changed.
    So sorry for your loss, she will be greatly missed.
