Maxine Harris

Maxine Dolores Harris, 93, of Raytown, Missouri passed away February 12, 2023.

Maxine’s Funeral will start at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 20, 2023, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd Raytown, MO 64133. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM.

Mrs. Harris was born May 11, 1929, at Wells Creek in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, to Frank and Thelma Seele. Maxine was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Wamego High School in Wamego, Kansas. Maxine married John “Jack” R. Harris Jr. on October 3, 1949. They were married for 61 years until John passed in 2008. Maxine was a homemaker and kept busy raising her and John’s two children Gary and Teresa. She was an active member of St. Bernadette Parish, the St. Bernadette CCW, and the St. Ann Guild. She was also a volunteer at the Raytown Historical Society and a Camp Fire Girls Leader. Her hobbies and likes included flower gardening, statuaries, figurines (especially angels) and spending time at her and John’s cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. Her and John also enjoyed traveling in their retirement years.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Thelma, her brother Alvin Seele, two sisters LaDonna Herman and Patricia Johnson and her beloved husband John, who passed away in 2008.

Survivors include her son Gary Harris (Jan Glanville) of Moorpark, CA, her daughter Teresa (Clinton) Crownover of Broken Arrow, OK, two grandsons Matthew Crownover and Jason Crownover, six great grandchildren Austin, Ethan, Brooke, Teresa, Alex, and Lauren, and three great great-grandchildren Clinton, Jack, and Elijah.
