Melodie Susan Lockler, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 3, 2022, in her home in Shawnee, KS. She was born on January 13, 1962, to Alex and Helen Malko of Independence, MO.
Melodie is survived by her sons: Thomas Lockler and David (Stephanie) Lockler; her grandchildren, Corbin Lockler, and Carter Smith; siblings, Vera (David) Wetteroff, Michael Malko, John (Tricia) Malko, Teresa (Marianne) Malko; and 36 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Seth Allan Smith, her sister, Shirley Ann Osman, and her parents, Alex and Helen Malko.
Melodie grew up in Independence, MO, and graduated from Van Horn High School. She excelled in a career doing office management, sales and customer service within her field. In 2015 she opened Elite Custom Surface LLC in partnership with Oscar Martinez fulfilling her lifelong dream of owning and managing her own business. Melodie thrived around people. She cherished both business and personal relationship, always giving compassion and empathy. Her larger than life personality lit up every room.
Services will be at the Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri, on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. With a memorial service following at 11 a.m. MELODIE LOCKLER MEMORIAL SERVICE LINK.

I am stunned and so saddened. Mel was the hardest working person I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. She was funny and kind and caring and so smart. She never, ever let me down, or any of my clients. She was the best of the best of humanity….and although I know she loves being reunited with Seth…selfishly, the world has lost a treasure….Love you Mel, see you on the flip side sister…I know you are already a guardian angel to many….

Thomas and David, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about mom. Melodie and I were partners in crime at work for many years, and after that ended, we all spent much time together camping and swimming and just hanging out.
