Melva Schaufler

Melva Heits Schaufler, 74, of Shawnee, Kan., died December 15, 2007, at home. Celebration of Life will be held at Shawnee Civic Center December 22, 2007, between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Formerly of Craig, Mo., graduate of Craig High School- valedictorian; B.S. degree in chemistry from Northwest Missouri State and listed in Who’s Who; Medical Technology Training at old Research Hospital; M.S. degree in Public Administration from University of Missouri-Kansas City; post graduate laboratory computer training in New York and Boston. Retired as an Administrator from Children’s Mercy Hospital and guided others in the health sciences. Member of the CLMA for hospital laboratories and medical technology. Preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bessie Heits and brother J.C. Heits. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Monte Lee; two daughters, Lisa A. Schaufler and her husband Chris E. Trammell of Clermont, Fla., Sara E. Schaufler of Lenexa, Kan., and her two children Jessica and Nick Jordan; two sisters, Romona Phillips and her husband Donald, Shirley Quealy; two brothers, Richard Heits and his wife Shirley, Bernard Heits and his wife Sue.
