Michael Lee Jennings of Kansas City, 73, was born January 25th, 1952, in Springfield, Missouri, to William Harvey Jennings and Doris Jean (Pack) Jennings. His loving wife, Robin, was at his side when he peacefully went to be with Jesus on March 1st, 2025. Michael loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who was his source of strength, peace and comfort through life’s many trials. This was especially so during his challenging health battles that had worsened over the last few months of his life. His unwavering faith remained constant until the Lord took him home.
Although he grew up in Raytown, he moved to Prairie Village when he was 15 and graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1970. He began a ten year career working for Safeway, Inc. in high school and was eventually promoted to Produce Manager. After this, he first managed and then became owner of The Nashville Replay, a live country music venue and dance club, for several years. He then spent the rest of his career in sales positions for ADC Computer Services, Beyond Now Technologies and Grantham University. In 1992, he and Robin flew off to Las Vegas and were joined in holy matrimony at the Little Chapel of the Flowers, a joyous time for all who attended!
Looking back, he so enjoyed the simple things of life with friends and family. He loved camping, fishing, canoeing, swimming and motorcycle riding. He also enjoyed estate and garage sale shopping. He would make a detailed map of the best route to follow to cover the most territory. And the times that he and Robin spent either on their front porch or their backyard deck, visiting with neighbors while they enjoyed their painstakingly planned out landscaping- these times were priceless. Over these years, their many rescue dogs, wild birds and other critters seemed to enjoy the scenery as much as they did! He surely loved the outdoors. Michael also loved the times he spent with his siblings at their bi-monthly “sibling lunches” just so they could keep up with each other’s busy lives. He was also fond of a good game of pool with friends, music, dancing and never tired of watching classic westerns. The simple life is the good life.
Michael was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend and will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his wife of almost 33 years, Robin (Rorie) Jennings, and their fur-baby, Abbey; his siblings, Madalene Kerr (Ken), Mitchelene Taylor (Bill), Marsha Skaggs, and Mark Jennings; mother-in-law, Donna Rorie, sister-in-law, Renee Henderson (Darron); nieces and nephews, Kelly Kerr, Shawn Kerr, Mitchell Jennings, Michael Jennings, R.J. Rorie and Wade Henderson.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at Armour Heights Community Church, 7900 Jarboe, Kansas City, MO 64114, at 1pm with one of Michael’s favorite meals to follow.
What a wonderful smile! This is how I remember our sweet neighbor…he was a dear man who always had a kind word, a helping hand and a warm smile. I miss that smile. Sending love to Robin and family ♥️
