Michael “Mikey” James Tatum Jr., age 40, of Raytown, Missouri, passed away on April 6, 2026.
Mikey was a deeply social person who never met a stranger. He was easy to talk to and wherever he went, friendships followed. Whether he knew you for five minutes or five years, he had a way of making you feel like you mattered. The most important part of Mikey’s life was his daughter, Lucy. She was his world and the brightest spot in his life. Some of his favorite moments were the simple ones, watching movies from his own childhood with Lucy, sharing laughs and memories together. Those times meant everything to him. Mikey had a passion for mopeds. He loved riding them, working on them, and collecting them. It was something that brought him joy and reflected his hands-on nature and love for being out in the world.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Ruby; his grandfather, Robert Miller; and his grandmother, Frances Miller, all of whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his daughter Lucy; mother Linda; father Michael; sister Maggie; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, located at 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri, 64133.
RIM Rest in mopeds, Cousin🎀 We will always remember you worked on the new lights in Target Field, all the love from Minneapolis.

To Maggie, Mikey’s daughter, his parents, and everyone else close to him, my deepest sympathies. You should not have to know a loss like this. I remember I had Mikey in one of my classes, and he always was so kind to me and made me laugh. In adulthood I moved away and did not see him often but when I did, he never hesitated to say hi or talk to me. He will be missed by many for his charisma and charm, but also for his exceptional kindness! I hope you all kind find comfort and peace in these difficult days knowing he is also at peace.
Mikey was my next door neighbor, his mom Linda and sister Maggie moved in next door when they were kids. Mikey became friends with my nephew DJ. The stories I could go on and on about. Mikey became a very close friend and like brother to me! I’m going to miss his off the wall joke I didn’t understand most the time and our friendship! Mikey if you have taco’s up there with my parents and DJ again don’t use all the sour cream lol! My deepest condolences for the Tatum family. Love you Mike Always and Forever!
