Mitchell Clark

Mitchell Clark, age 65, of Leawood, Kansas passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022 surrounded by his family. Mitchell was born in Dalton, Georgia on October 13, 1956. Mitchell graduated from North Whitfield High School in 1974. He went on to study at Georgia Southern University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and graduated in 1978 with his Bachelors Degree. After college, Mitchell went on to pursue his career in business development with opportunities to live all around the country before settling down in Kansas City; where he spent most of his career working for Cerner Corporation. In his most recent days at Cerner, Mitchell was the President of the Community Works Organization. After 26 years of dedication and excellence at Cerner, he recently retired and began filling his time with all the things that made his life fun and full of joy. Among the many accomplishments Mitchell achieved, three of his greatest accomplishments are his sons; Trent, Tanner, and Dillon. Mitchell raised his sons to be responsible and respectful gentlemen that fill their lives with their passions. He was so proud to call them his and Mitchell’s legacy will live on through them. Mitchell lived his life to the fullest and always knew how to have a good time. He was an avid golfer and belonged to Hallbrook Country Club where he played golf multiples times a week. He loved to travel. He was a Georgia Bulldogs fan traveling to every home game in Georgia. He was a Kansas City Chiefs fan never missing any home games. He loved being active, very social, and involved. Mitchell never met a stranger and made countless friends that he kept in touch with throughout the years. He was a mentor to many. Above all else, Mitchell was a family man. He loved getting together with family as often as possible. He loved chasing his grandkids around every chance he got and never missed an opportunity to talk about them.

Truly a life gone way too soon. Mitchell is preceded in death by his father, George Clark. He is survived by his mother, Altha Clark, his loving partner, Maria Valverde (Vanessa, Jon, and Diana), his 3 sons, Trent Clark (Jenna), Tanner Clark, and Dillon Clark (Paige); his grandkids, Brooklyn, Emmalee, Jack, Ava, and Olivia; his sister, Carol Hicks (Roger) and his nephew Derek Hicks (Sarah); among many more extended family and friends.

On Friday October 7, 2022, a visitation will take place at 1:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00pm in the Wesley Chapel at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection (13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

The family would like to thank everyone for all their love and support during this very difficult time.

It was an honor to know Mitchell over the last several years. He helped me through some difficult situations at my hospital and always worked to find a solution to the complex issues we faced. Even though he did not care for patients directly, his work made a positive impact on the lives of many patients.

    He will be missed.
