Patrick Daley, Jr.

Patrick John Daley Jr, 62, Independence, Mo., died May 27, 2006, of a heart attack. A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Independence. Burial in Ft. Leavenworth Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. Survivors include wife of 37 years, Susanna, Independence; daughter, Michelle Daley; son, Christopher Daley; mother Margaret Daley, McKees Rocks, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Amy Daley, their children, Patrick and Katie Daley Markleton, Pa. Raised in West End, but formerly of Sheridan, Pa. His greatgrandfather John Daly was stable boss at J&L Steel; his grandfather Patrick Daly operator at PGH Railway CO; his grandmother, Mary Alice, piano player and bathtub gin maker during Depression. His father, Patrick Daley and Margaret ran off and married in Las Cruces, NM. (Thanks to SSN, name changed from Daly to Daley). Graduate of Holy Innocents High School 1962. Alliance College graduate June ’67 w/BA in Science. Pat always had “wander lust”, probably because his parents eloped. Little did he know how far he would travel. Met his wife at Alliance College, Cambridge, Pa., trying to “innocently” share a blanket during a soccer game. Vietnam Veteran ’67-’69. In ’69, returned, married, and started a family. Traveled U.S. and overseas-snapping pictures as he went. Unconfirmed reports at the time of his death hold he was admitted through Heaven’s Gate when St. Peter heard he was an Irishman who had a case of Iron City Beer, unfiltered Pall Malls for his father “Packy” and his favorite camera. He finally made it to the ultimate vacation spot. Save us a place- sunrise at Grand Canyon, North Rim, we will join you a bit later. All are welcome to attend.
