Paul L. Malicoat

Paul L. Malicoat, 76, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on May 21, 2019 surrounded by family and friends.

Paul spent most of his life in Independence. He served in the Vietnam War from 1967-1968 and came home a highly decorated hero.

His love of creating something beautiful made him one of the best upholsterers in Kansas City. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed rooting for our hometown sports teams. Paul loved to have fun. He was the life of the party and a damn good-looking man!

He is survived by: Linda Malicoat, Jeffrey Mallicoat, Paul Michael Malicoat (Kelly), Michael Thomas Gardner, Christy Tarpenning (Bob), Beth Gehring (Mike), Steve Malicoat (Brandy), 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by all.

My father’s celebration of life service will take place June 15, 2019 at the Heart of God Fellowship in Buckner, Missouri. I invite you to join our family at the visitation at 4 PM, followed by a service at 5. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to St. Jude’s, an organization Paul was fond of and made contributions to. God bless and we hope to see you there.

I sure want to thank you Malicoat’s for not including me in the death of my Uncle Paul. Some 3 months later Barb informed me and was very sorry I wasn’t informed and felt very sorry for me that none of you had the balls to tell me. I guess I know where I stand amoungst you Malicoat’s now especially your mother Linda who was supposed to inform everyone of Paul’s death. I’m sure you realize I was very close to my Uncle Paul and it beats the hell out of me why I was not informed… Thanks Linda!

Paul was my first cousin, we played together as kids and were only two months apart in age. I loved his smile, he was a good looking, fun loving guy.
Sadly, I just heard of his passing and it’s been 3 months.
Did someone forget Paul had parents and a sister, nieces and nephews who all loved him?
Maybe they aren’t with us, or maybe they haven’t spoken, but you can’t change the facts.
Whoever wrote this obituary should be ashamed, it was hurtful in so many ways.
    RIP Cousin??

My grandfather was a lot of things. I loved almost every moment I got to spend with that man. I only wish I could go back and cherish it harder. I love you grandpa. Thank you for the stories, all of the times hanging out, and talking in the upholstery room I’m the basement. Catching me smoking in there, and not telling my dad. You were a damn good looking man. And god knows you had your faults. We all do. I love you.
