Paul Leonard Hudson Sr.

Paul Leonard Hudson Sr., 88, of the greater Kansas City area, entered into eternal rest on December 27, 2024. Born on April 1, 1936, to Paul and Lucille Hudson, Paul spent his life rooted in faith, family, and service.

After graduating high school, Paul served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning, he dedicated his career to the automotive industry, retiring from Midway Ford in December 1998 after decades of hard work and commitment.

Paul was a man of deep love and unwavering devotion—especially to his family and to the causes he cherished most: children and scouting. A proud supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, he spent countless hours fostering leadership and character development in young people.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Lucille Dean Lamp and Marjorie Lee McKinney. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jo Ann Burrus Hudson, and their three sons: Paul Jr. (Michelle), Richard (Rick) (Kay), and Robert (Chrissy). His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren—Marcus (Danielle), Zachary, Kenna (Lilly), Dirk (Jylian), Krista, Shelby, Spencer (Kori), and Nathaniel—and his 14 great-grandchildren: Rylie, Farrah, Caleigh, Gunner, Aydan, Hayden, Makenzie, Gannon, Dominic, Emileigh, Damon, Deacon, Asher-Jaymes, and Daphne. Paul is also survived by his brother, Larry Alan Overfield.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Raytown Christian Church, 6108 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. A celebration of Paul’s life will follow at 10:00 a.m., with a private family burial at Higginsville Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Paul’s memory to Raytown Christian Church or the H. Roe Bartle Scout Scholarship Fund, c/o Heart of America Council BSA, 10210 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131.

Paul’s life was a testament to faith, service, and love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
