Phyllis Jones

Phyllis Jones was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 10, 1951. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, at 6:05 p.m. on January 8, 2010 at the age of 58. Phyllis had suffered with cancer for the past eighteen months. She was a strong woman and loved by everyone. She had touched many lives over the years with her deep Christian faith, and through that faith formed many life-long friendships and bonds that will forever be remembered here in the United States and globally. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri. While growing up, she was a member of Kansas City Baptist Temple where she was actively involved in the youth group and in missions. She traveled to Mexico and Nicaragua sharing the love of Christ and His Salvation Plan. She later attended the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where she obtained her teaching degree. She went on to teach in Florida, later returning to Kansas City where she was a principal at Tri-City Christian School in Independence, Missouri. Some time later, she worked for Sprint in advertising and later joined the staff at Kansas City Baptist Temple as an administrative assistant for about six years. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl S. Jones, and leaves her mother, Gertrude Jones of Raytown, Missouri, and her sister, Gladys Wright (husband, Neal) and two nephews Mark Wright (wife, Mary) and Jeff Wright (wife, Barbara) and a niece, Cindy Follmer (husband, Ray) and four great-nieces and two great-nephews: Rayna, Tarah and Aaron Follmer and Ian, Mary and Olivia Wright. She also leaves many, many close friends, so many whom we know we would miss mentioning here. Just know that she loved all of you dearly. We will rejoice and celebrate her life at a Memorial Service to be held at Kansas City Baptist Temple on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. No cards or flowers, please, just rejoicing. Any donations can be made to the church in her memory.
