I feel fortunate to have had Randy as a friend. In the old days we were good together and at times bad together. I’m glad we were able to talk on the phone a few times the last couple of years…we laughed and joked as if we’d never been separated. I’ll miss him. But his friendship will always be with me.
My deepest regrets that I cannot attend his service. I know his life will be celebrate because he was loved by many.
My heartfelt condolences.
Just so proud to called a friend! Blessings to The Apgar Family.
A lot of great memories from the old Hillcrest days, played many rounds with Randy. What a great gentleman, and player.
I’m sure he is playing with some of the best now, have a good game Randy!!!

So sorry for your loss.
Randy was a great man and freind.
His smiling face will be missed in our shop and on the course.
I met Randy several years ago as we were marshals together on Sunday afternoon at Fred Arbanas golf course. I am very thankful that our paths crossed and we became friends. He was so passionate about golf and so willing to pass along his knowledge without judgement. And it was clear the love he had for Carlene and his entire family from our many conversations under the weeping willow tree at Arbanas. I will miss our conversations.
I first met Randy many years ago at Longview playing a few holes of golf on a summer evening. I was struggling with my game as usual, and Randy was patient and kind, and helped me with a simple tip that served me well for years. It was only after many years of friendship and plenty of golf together, that I came to truly appreciate that simple gesture. Randy loved his friends, shared his love of golf with us, but most importantly shared his love for his family with us. He was extremely grateful for and proud of his family and often spoke of that. He will be greatly missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
My deepest sympathies to your family. Randy was a wonderful man. I loved seeing him at the golf course and hearing his stories. He will be missed. Prayers for your family.
Randy will truly be missed. I continued to stop by and see him from time to time in Raytown, and each time, it was always like seeing long lost family! It is hard to let go, that selfish part of us…..although we know that he is healed, and because he is absent from the earth, he IS with GOD! In that, we are completely sure!
May God bless Carlene, Ryan and Whitney, as well as your family’s during this time of loss! Our families, the Mittendorf’s and Bedell’s were very lucky to have spent time with Randy over the years, as well as all of you, and we send our prayers and love to each and every one! May time keep the memories bright, until you are ALL together again!
Sending our love and prayers to your family! We are thinking of you all. ??
We are praying for you and your sweet family. We love you.
So sorry to hear the sad news about Randy. I always enjoyed seeing him at the golf course, talking golf or about his grandkids. I think everyone at Longview will miss seeing him.
So sorry to read of Randy’s passing. Thinking of you and your family.
May you & your family find great comfort in the many memories that are yours to cherish always. GOD’S LOVE will surround you through this
time and Forever! PRAYERS Continue, Most Sincerely,
Randy will truly be missed and I will always have fond memories of sharing the game we love so much and the friendship we made, God bless Randy and his family.
Randy and I shared many fun times growing up on Hedges street in Raytown. When Randy moved in with his parents and brother down the street from us, it was not long before we heard a basketball being dribbled on our driveway and baskets being shot! It was Randy! That event began a friendship with lots of activities through high school. Miles and life kept us apart since then but some recent phone conversations and past memories have brought Randy back into my life. I look forward to once again playing hoops with Randy on the other side!
Cheers, Mike Quearry (Houston, Texas)
Carlene,
I can’t get the image of Randy “high 5-ing” St. Peter at the (toll)gate of heaven out of my mind. The scene at the Turnpike toll gate after we won the 4-ball in 2006 was just one of the many great times we shared over the years.
I will always miss our conversations at work. I miss you my friend.
Carlene, I just came across this. I have such great memories of all of us in nursing school, and playing cards, and living the dream. Randy was awesome. My heart is broken for you.
Just thought about Randy and wondered how he was. Really sorry that I waited to long to reach out to him. I think this is the same Randy that I spent six years with in the Air Force Reserves. We had a lot of fun
