Rebecca “Becky” Sue Lamb

Rebeca “Becky” Sue Lamb, 74, Clinton, Missouri passed away February 4, 2021 from lung cancer. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at First Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri. A visitation will be held 12:00 – 1:00 PM prior to the funeral at First Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri. Burial in Carroll Memory Gardens. For those attending visitation and/or the service, the family asks that you feel free to “come as you are”, jeans, “comfies”, or dress clothes, whatever makes you most comfortable in celebrating life.

Becky was born January 3, 1947 in Carrollton, Missouri. The only child of Rex and Virginia (Scott) Lamb, Becky carried a passion for animals & nature throughout her life. She achieved her ultimate thrill in training & riding horses in the Tevis cup race in Northern California.

In her retirement she downsized to loving many cats, dogs and racoons that visited for her nightly treats. She loved the Chiefs, spending time with her children & grandchildren & was generous in helping them achieve their goals. She was very excited to recently reconnect with old friends and share memories. Her absence has left a painful emptiness, but we are grateful for her life and peaceful passing.

Becky was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Myne and Shirley Scott, Orval and Thelma Lamb: parents, Rex and Virginia Lamb: and husband John Gary Haselroth. She is survived by: daughters, Lori (Maddox) Setchell, and Julie (Maddox) Sanders (spouse Jeff Rigsby): grandchildren, Stephen Sanders (spouse, Michelle), Christopher Sanders, Alyson Melson (spouse, Jullyan Harmount), great grandchildren Zakk Sanders, Sonny Sanders, and Myla Sanders, and her very good friend Tom Staton.

It was such a joy to visit with Becky periodically through our lives. I remember the day I met her at her dad’s auction and we talked as if we had never been apart. At our last reunion, we sat across from each other and laughed a lot. There are many shared memories of spending time with each other during high school. She was always a beautiful person. The past year we visited on Facebook and I sent some notes to her and it was a mutual joy to re-connect. My daughters, Susan and Sharon (Henthorn) join me in sending you our heartfelt condolences.

Very sorry to hear. What I remember most about Becky is that lovely smile she seemed to have for everyone. I’m not surprised she loved animals–as that shows a warm, caring nature, which she definitely had. Not a bad way to be remembered.

I met Becky at church when we moved to Carrollton my 10th grade year. Her infectious smile and bubbly personality could light up a room. Our paths continued to cross, both in person and phone calls and later Facebook. Her life wasn’t always easy but our friendship lasted a lifetime. I offer my prayers for comfort to those who miss her most.

I’m sorry that I won’t be able to attend Becky’s services. Becky and I graduated from high school together but as it often goes as life keeps you busy, we lost track of each other over the years. It was so good to see her at our last class reunion & reminisce about the simple days of the 1960’s. I see she passed on her sweet smile to her children and grandchildren and I know that she will be deeply missed. We will be praying for you all as you walk through the grieving process. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18

Becky and I grew up next door to each other on Ely in Carrollton and were best friends for many years.
We spent almost everyday together and loved staying overnight at each other’s home.
Our moms were good friends and took turns taking and picking us up at school.
She had a horse named Missy and we would ride together in the pastures behind our houses. She loved all animals, even the stray cats that lived in our barn.
She was a very caring person and I am confident she was a wonderful mother to her two girls.
She contacted me recently and we shared some memories, but I had no idea she was ill.
My prayers are with all her family and friends.
    Sharon (Wilson) Pierson
