The staff of 4000 at Boone Hospital Center would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Fr Linnebur. He was such a gentle, kind person and we all enjoyed caring for him during his lengthy hospital stays and getting to know his wonderful, caring sisters. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
My prayers to Vince and his family. I met Vince at the Neuman Center after her said A homily at a Mass. Latter that week I hired him at Charter Hospital. He became a good friend to me and to my son who died of muscular dystrophy in 2002. He helped me bury him.
He has supported me as a co-worker, a friend and a priest. He was a blessing in my life. My God be with Him. I send my love and my prayers. I am the counselor at the Cathedral School and i learned of his death when Msg. Kurwicki prayed for him at the children’s Mass.
We are so sorry to hear of Father Vince’s passing. He was very special to our family, as he performed our wedding at Sacred Heart Church in 1981. Every time I saw Father Vince during the years after we married, I would remind him of our pre-marriage classes we took. He told us he was hesitant to marry us, and thought we were not compatible, but after 26 years and two boys later, we are still together. We have always laughed about that. We will miss him very much.
We will miss Fr. Vince. We have faith that we will see him again. Our sympathies to his family.
To a priest who gave more than 4 decades of gentle and caring service to God’s people – to the poor in Peru — to the families of Columbia. I was a classmate of Vince in college 55 years ago. He suffered much the last few years. He gave much all his life. May the Lord give you everlasting joy and peace.
I met Vince at St John’s in 1952 as I was making my first retreat. He was a wonderful inspiration.By the time he returned to Sacred Heart parish in Columbia we had many interactions. I brought him to several Kiwanis meetings. The whole family enjoyed his sermons atSacred Heart and later at the Newman Center. We attended many meetings of the Gist lectures at the University. I will always remember him and pray for him.
My condolences to all the family and especially to his sisters who cared for him so lovingly and for so long. I knew Vince from Sacred Heart parish when he returned, transformed I’m sure, from his experience in Peru.I encouraged him to come to Mizzou when he seemed to need another route to serve God and His people.
Later, I was honored to have him co-officiate at the wedding of my son in 1994. Later, we visited some when he filled in at Newman for daily masses. He
identified with the poor and homeless and in his gentle way was an inspiration to those who knew him as friend and peer. May his soul be in eternal rest and peace; I was blessed to have him in my life.
I have many fond memories of Fr. Linnebur growing up — he was a close friend of my father. He was so happy and fulfilled during his time as a missionary in Peru.
