Richard Cockrum

Richard Donald Cockrum, 68, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on July 19, 2023.

Rick was born on April 23rd, 1955, in Newton Kansas. He married his beautiful wife Patricia of 45 years in 1978. They had one daughter, Rachel Keppel (Chris). Rick was the proud papa of 2 grandchildren, Melia Keppel and Chase Keppel, who he adored. Rick loved fishing, being in nature in general, working in the woods, campfires, and building models, especially airplanes. He loved animals, especially his many cat rescues throughout his life. Loved his Chiefs and Royals and played softball for decades. He worked as an EMT in San Diego California. In Kansas City, he worked with developmentally disabled adults at Southeast Enterprises, where he was affectionately known as “Sarge”. He passionately loved his family and friends, and he will be so dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday July 27th, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society (6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO 64133). Service will be informal with no set order of service.

    I am so very sorry for your loss, Pat, but thankful that you had a long, happy life with Rick. Few of us are lucky enough to meet our soulmates and spend our lives with them and I’m sure you will be reunited sometime in the future. Love, Joy
