A memorial in his honor will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Fifth Street Christian Church. The Rev. James Kimbro will officiate.
Richard worked as a printer at General Printing and Sir Speedy Printing before retiring.
He is survived by a daughter, Desha Kelly of Columbia; sons Brandon Jackson of Springfield and Curtis Floyd of Columbia; sisters Pam Gordon and Leanna Jenkins of Augusta, Ga., Misty Jenkins and Cindy Jenkins of Springfield; brothers Curtis Hayes of Springfield and David Jenkins of Columbia; and stepmother Mary Jenkins of Springfield. Richard is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lots of friends and special friends Deloris and Christina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harriet and Richard Hayes.
