Richard (Rick) Kenneth Higgins, 87, of Grain Valley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. He was born October 7, 1929 in Kansas City. Rick was united in marriage to Miriam Hicks on March 25, 1951. He is survived by his children, Bruce Higgins (Debi) of Blue Springs and Bev Petersma (Doug) of Eldridge, IA; grandchildren, Jennifer,
Scott, Bobbi and Mark; great grandchildren, Natalie and Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Saunders and Jewett Higgins; daughter, Sharon Higgins; sister, Virginia Doty; brother, Don Higgins; and wife of 55 years, Miriam. A family graveside service will be held October 28th, 2:00pm at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown Missouri. Family suggest donations to the American Heart Association.
I remember as a child how Rick would greet me with “Well, hello, Tom!” in a way that was right out of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Even after Miriam left this world, he was still kind and managed a smile.
