It truly breaks my heart to know that Rick has passed. He and my sister Denise were, as everyone knows, true childhood sweethearts in high school, married shortly thereafter and together brought into the world three wonderful sons–Josh, Jimmy Joe and little Ricky. Unfortunately, life threw at Rick and Denise too many problems that they could not resolve, and their marriage of several years ended. And each picked up the pieces of their lives and moved on. Each found a new person to love, but neither Rick nor Denise ever truly lost that first true Love. For God is Love, and the source of Love, and knows us each through those we have loved. The Love they shared was real and needs to be remembered. As does my ‘brother’ and friend Richard Hernandez. For Rick was a good man, a good father, and a good friend. Did I mention his great sense of humor? His talents? We all know of these, and the world is just that much less amazing without Rick here in it. I truly will miss him, as will his sons, and as will my Mom & Dad, Dottie and Gene Geniuk, who never stopped loving him as their son, not just a son-in-law! When Rick married Denise, the youngest sister in a large Catholic family of 10 children, he was had already been considered one of the family. And he was definitely a brother to me! So the entire Geniuk family is mourning Rick’s passing. May God, in his Mercy and Grace, now shine His loving Light upon Rick’s soul to guide Rick back to his truest home– in Heaven. I have always held Rick in esteem for the joys he brought into my family’s home and life those oh so many years ago, and for the gift he gave to my sister, born of Love, his sons Josh, Jimmy Joe and Ricky. Rick will always be my friend, and even though they divorced, he is always still part of the Geniuk and Brewer families! God bless and keep you, Rick, and save some ballgames for me when I get there too!
