Robert Edward Bales

Robert Edward Bales, 70, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away March 14, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the family home. Mr. Bales was born January 20, 1944 in Kansas City, KS

Bob spent 30 years working as a dispatcher for Auto Convoy/Associated Transport/Allied Systems at the Ford Plant in Claycomo. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 41. Bob was sometimes eccentric, with a museum-worthy collection of model cars and an odd collection of silver sets in wood boxes. He enjoyed researching his family tree and spent countless hours on his computer tracking connections. Bob will be remembered for his passion for motorcycles and Mustangs, his love/hate relationship with KU basketball and his willingness to help any one with anything if asked.

Survivors include his daughter Kelly Bales Jauernig and husband Jim of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, son Drew Bales of Olathe, Kansas, sister Sharon Griffin, brothers Duke Bales and Brian Bales of Kansas City, granddaughters Emma Kate Jauernig and Addison Jauernig and former wife Karen Bales, who was his primary caregiver for the last several months and friend for many years.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House.
