Robert Keith Conway

Robert Keith Conway, 69, of Lee’s Summit, MO, peacefully entered eternal rest on September 6th, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Keith was born in Independence, MO as the second of four children to Charles “Ken” and Betty Conway. He spent most of his childhood in Grandview, MO and graduated from Grandview High School. As a young boy, the money he earned from mowing yards and working at a grocery store went to support his lifelong hobbies of gardening and assembling model cars. After graduating from high school, he sought out his path in life and at 19 moved to Colorado to work with his uncle in heating and air conditioning installations before returning home to the Kansas City area.

In 1980, Keith met the woman who would become the love of his life during a league night of bowling. Keith was on a men’s league at the time and Brenda bowled on a mixed league. Their lives seemed destined to align as they were put in one another’s orbit more than once leading up to the night they officially met. The power went out at the bowling alley and in the darkness, they began talking. Two years later, in 1982, they exchanged vows, and dedicated the next 42 years to one another. Keith proved to be a wonderful husband to Brenda and a devoted father to their children.

Keith had various jobs leading up to his eventual career with General Motors. He began working at the Fairfax Assembly Plant in 1985, transitioned to Delco Battery around 1987, and after it’s closure he transitioned back to Fairfax where he served for nine years until his well-deserved retirement in 2013, accumulating over 29 years of dedicated service.

Beyond his work, Keith reveled in the simple pleasures of life. He immersed himself in reading, enjoyed fishing, cherished animals and nature, and found solace in building intricate model cars. However, his true passion lay in tending to his plants and gardens. The bounty from his gardens and apple tree were put to great use each year. Keith’s knowledge and enthusiasm were generously shared with friends and family, leaving an indelible mark on each.

Keith is survived by his wife Brenda Conway, daughters Barbara (Doug) January and Rebecca Wall-Norris, son Michael (Noora) Conway, grandsons Randal January and Levi Conway, great granddaughter Freyja January, siblings Sharon (Charles) Hunter, Kelly (Ronni) Conway, Bill (Tammy) Conway, and his loyal friend Hershey Dog. Keith was preceded in death by his parents Charles Kenneth Conway and Betty Jean Conway, and his son-in-law Steven Norris.

A memorial service for Keith will be held on Friday, September 27th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Heartland Society, located at 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133.
