Robert L. Klausing

Robert L. Klausing passed away at his residence in Foxwood Springs Nursing Home on October 11, 2005. Death was caused by complications of advanced Parkinsons Disease. He was 76 years old. Mr. Klausing was born in Carrollton, MO on July 3, 1929 to Mr. Robert H. Klausing and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Klausing. Robert enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1947, achieving the rank of sergeant and serving honorably until 1949. He continued in the Marine Corps Reserves until 1951. Mr. Klausing later attended Central Missouri State University and the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he received his Bachelors degree and Masters degree in Geology. Upon receiving his Masters degree, Robert was employed by the U.S. Geological Survey, he and his family lived in the Columbia, MO area, Central and Southern CA, Eastern and Central North Dakota and Albuquerque, NM where he worked on ground water profile studies of various counties and areas within those states. Robert is survived by his 4 children and their spouses, Melissa and Roger MIller, Bismarck, North Dakota, Robert Evan and Sherry Klausing, Lee’s Summit, MO, David Lucien and Beth Klausing, Dallas, TX, and Mary Laura and Michael Williams, Billings, MT. He was the grandfather of 7 grandchildren, Kendra and Zane Miller, Adam and Jenna Klausing, Sarah and Michelle Williams and Tristian Klausing. Mr. Klausing is also survived by his sister, Hannah Cheak, Dallas, TX and sister-in-law, Ann Long, Liberty, MO. During his life time, Mr. KLausing was a member of and a significant contributor to the University of Missouri Alumnae, National Rifle, Assc., the National Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited and other wildlife conservation organizations. He was a faithful sponsor of Compassion International, an organization which helps in the support and education of impoverished children worldwide. Robert loved the outdoors, animals, gardening, target shooting, all types of music an dbeing with his family. In 1197, Mr. Klausing moved from Albuquerque to Lee’s Summit, MO where he lived until the effects of Parkinsons Disease forced him to reside in a long term care center at Foxwood Springs living facility in Raymore, MO. Prior to that move to Raymore, Mr. Klausing had become a regular attender of Lee’s Summit Community of Church. Cremation has taken place, and a private family ceremony will be held in Lee’s Summit, MO. Interment will occur at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, MO. The family requests that any memorials be made to The American Parkinsons Disease Assc.
