Robert L. Smith, 81, of Independence, Missouri passed away August 2, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri. Mr. Smith was born July 22, 1936 in Wichita, Kansas.
Robert worked for Western Union as a telecommunications technician and was an avid woodcarver.
Survivors include his wife Beverly Smith, son Perry Smith, grandson Shane Smith, sister Carrie Cowen and husband Ray (Arnold, PA), sister Gert Pendarvis (Wichita, KS), sister Maxine Hord (Independence, Missouri) and many nieces and nephews.
