Robert Taber

Robert Paul Taber died suddenly on Friday, July 10, at home. He had moved the day before from 1608 Meadow Lake Terrace, Kansas City, MO, to 5110 Neosho Lane, Roeland Park, KS. Robert was a tireless advocate for political candidates and causes, especially equal rights for gays. He was ready to begin a new life filled with exciting prospects: He loved owning and setting up a new home, was entering a clinical trial which he hoped might nearly eliminate his multiple sclerosis, had determined to quit smoking, planned to volunteer at the local office of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and launched a jewelry design business.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Rosemary Taber, and sisters Linda Poneta and Pat Morgan. Survivors include his life partner, John White; brothers and sisters Clint of St. Louis; Tom of Augusta, GA; Kathy (Richard) Humiston of Ft. Smith, AR; Steve of Kenmore, WA; Peter of Fayetteville, AR; Mary (Pete) Scovic of Newnan, GA; Susan Starr of Ft. Smith, AR; Michael of Hot Springs, AR; David of Houston, TX; Richard of N. Little Rock, AR; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; his beloved Doberman Mika and Weimaraner Bella.

    John and Family,
You have our sincerest and deepest sympathy for your loss of Robert. What a shock, we are still confused by the sudden death and the reminder that LIFE is not guarnateed by the amount of time we are here, but by the friends and family experiences we come to love and appreciate. Robert graced us with his dear friendship and his “panache” of living. We will forever be blessed by knowing him. I send prayers and blessings to you all.

We will always remember our last wonderful visit with Robert, John and Bill at Kathy and Richard’s home. Robert was happy and upbeat and at his charming best. We loved and will miss his generosity, his sense of humor and his sense of style. John, Kathy and family, we hope you can find some comfort in knowing that you’re surrounded with the love of friends. We’re thinking of you and praying for you. You have our heartfelt sympathy for your tremendous loss.
