Robert William Sopko

Robert William Sopko, 45, of Warrensburg, MO, passed away peacefully at home on May 6th, 2025, after a courageous fight with brain cancer.

Robert was born on June 21st, 1979, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to Teresa Burger(Sopko). He proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to his country as a Department of Defense Civilian Employee. He was admired for his unwavering work ethic, sharp sense of humor, and deep devotion to his friends and family.

In 2012, Robert married the love of his life, Lynndi Sopko. He was a proud and loving father to his sons, Riley Sopko (Kirstin Sopko) and Tyler Sopko, and his stepchildren, Makenna Anderson and Amaya Anderson. Together, he and Lynndi welcomed their daughter, Ellie Sopko. He is also survived by his stepfather, Jamie Burger, and was a cherished brother to Camille Sopko and a fun-loving uncle to her children, Brinley York and Mavery York. Robert was a beloved friend to many and will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, and generous spirit.

He had a lifelong love for sports, particularly golf and basketball, which he enjoyed playing with his sons and friends. A devout believer in Christ, Robert lived a life centered on faith, and love.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandfather, Austin Amos Harjo,​ grandmother, Mary Bell Harjo and grandmother Martha Wolard.

Robert W. Sopko leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside service will be held at Knob Noster Cemetery, MO, on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow at the AMVets Building 1101 US-50, Knob Noster, MO 65336.

    Rob and I began in the FAST shop at the same time 10 years ago, and in that time we became great friends. Knowing Rob, I know he fought with every ounce of strength up to the very last minute. You’ve absence has been and will be very missed brother.
