Rodney Glenn Simmermon

Rodney Glenn Simmermon, 92, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Tuesday May 9th, 2023 at Cross Creek Memory Care Facility in Lee’s Summit, MO. He was born February 13th, 1931 in Medford, MO to Glenn Taylor and Bertha Jane (Coy) Simmermon.

He graduated from Holden High School in 1949. Rodney served proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. As the oldest of seven children, and raised on a 160 acre farm, he worked at many different jobs throughout his life and retired from The Gas Service Company after 30 years of service. He moved up from a meter reader to machine operator during his time there. He was united in marriage to Mary Janice Walters on January 21st, 1955. They were married for 65 years before Janice passed away in 2020.

He was a member of the Ararat Shrine of Kansas City and the Masonic Lodge. He donated countless hours of service to both organizations.

Survived by his Sons, Sheldon Glenn Simmermon (Karla) of Blue Springs, MO and Shannon Eugene Simmermon (Gina Kephart) of Independence, MO. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Siblings, Beverly Craig, Nancy Stoyko, Eddy Simmermon.

He is preceded in death by his wife Janice Simmermon, parents Glenn Taylor and Bertha Jane Simmermon, sister Beatrice Eleanor Fitzgerel and brothers, Ernest Eugene (Ernie) and Robert Allen (Bob) Simmermon.
