Roxanna Viola Stephens

Roxanna Viola Stephens 74, Kansas City, Missouri went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 at the St Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, August 17th, 2 PM at Faith in Christ Fellowship 101 SW 21st Street, Oak Grove, Missouri.

Roxanna was born February 26th, 1950 in Jackson County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Ellen (Simmerman) Jones. Roxanna was married to Jerry R Stephens for 47 years. Although Jerry and Roxanna did not have children of their own they were loving parents to several foster children over many years.

Roxanna (Roxie), the 3rd eldest of 8 children was preceded in death by an older brother Joseph Steven Jones, an older sister JoEllyn Hardin and a younger brother Charles Aaron Jones. Roxanna is survived by sister-in-law Cynthia Jones of Ogden, Utah, a brother Phillip Michael Jones and wife Debbie of Garden City, MO, a brother John C Jones and wife Donna of Oak Grove, MO, a sister Susan D Decker of Independence, MO and a brother Gregg A Phillips (Paul) and wife Darlene of Battlefield, MO. Roxanna was ‘Aunt Roxie’ to many nephews and nieces.

Roxanna, a woman of strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, served God in several capacities in various churches. She especially loved children’s ministry work including teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Even in her weakened physical state she generously contributed to several ministries and was an avid prayer warrior. She made sure that every conversation included acknowledgement and praise for God’s goodness.

    I just wish that I could be there for her services, but have obligations here in Utah. We have lost too many of our family. May she rest in peace with the Lord.
