Roy Van Meter

Roy E. Van Meter, 67, passed away February 25, 2006 from Parkinson’s Disease at his home in Grain Valley, MO. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 4th at St. John La Lande Catholic Church in Blue Springs. Roy was born April 18th, 1938 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Norvell E. and Minnie A (Muff) Van Meter. He graduated from Central High School in 1957, and served in the US Army from 1962 to 1967. He worked for General Motors at the Leeds Plant in Kansas City and retired form the General Motors truck plant in Fort Wayne, Ind. after 30 years. He is survived by his wife Judi of 41 years and daughters Lori (Rod) Overton, Kelly Aman, and Vicki (Jon) Borlin. He has 7 grandchildren, Brandon (Anna) Byrd, Jennifer Overton, Brad (Nikki) Overton, Brittany & Zachary Hunt, Maxx & Tobi Borlin; great granddaughter, Melissa Overton; also sisters, Margaret Sims, Bettie Bartlett, Mary Bryan; and brothers, Walter & Kenneth. Memorials may be made to Kansas City Hospice or The Parkinson’s Foundation.
