Rudolph Wickham Kersey, 71, of Columbia entered into eternal rest August 31, 2008 at Boone Hospital. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday September 3, 2008 at Broadway Christian Church with the Revs. Kim Ryan and Jacob Thorne officiating. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday September 4, 2008 at Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery in Kansas City. Mr. Kersey was born August 12, 1937 in Kansas City to the late Rudolph HR and Erma (Wickham) Kersey. He attended East High School in Kansas City, where he was an Eagle Scout and achieved the rank of Sachem in the tribe of Mic-O-Say in Kansas City. Rudolph then went to obtain a business degree at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO where he was the president of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the editor of the yearbook for 2 years. Mr. Kersey married Cecelia Thomas Woodward of Marshall on June 21, 1959 and she survives. After living in Kansas City for 7 years Mr. Kersey moved to Columbia in 1966 to work for Conley Meyer Insurance Co. and became an accountant in Columbia where he recently retired. He was very instrumental in forming the Daniel Boone Little League field on Scott Blvd. and was an umpire for over 20 years. Rudolph was a member of Broadway Christian Church where he was a Deacon and Elder. He was a huge Missouri Tigers fan and loved to go fishing with his three sons, Rudolph Lawrence “Larry” Kersey of Columbia, MO William Gregory “Bill” Kersey and his wife Liz of Auxvasse, MO, Timothy Allen “Tim” Kersey and his wife Michelle of Columbia, as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister, and 2 grandsons. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Broadway Christian Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
