Russell “Bud” Henry

Russell “Bud” Henry, 74, passed away on February 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. A true outdoorsman with a heart as big as the open sky, Bud lived his life doing what he loved—spending time with his family, working hard, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

Born on September 21, 1950, in Boone County, Bud was a proud graduate of Hickman High School, Class of 1968. Over the years, he built a strong work ethic and lasting friendships while working for Sandy Cunningham Construction, Cunningham Quality Concrete, and JOEMAC. Whether on a job site or under an open sky, Bud put his whole heart into everything he did. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he was the first to offer support to those in need, making a positive impact on everyone he encountered.

Bud had a passion for hunting, riding horses, and being outside. He loved rodeos, trail rides, and playing cards with family and friends. A campfire was never just a source of warmth for Bud—it was a gathering place, where stories were told, laughter was shared, and memories were made. And, of course, no good time was complete without a cold Busch beer in hand.

Above all, Bud was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandfather (papa), uncle, brother, cousin, and friend. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an appreciation for nature.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Joy Henry. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Henry; sister, Becky Benedict; sons Chad (Sheela) Henry, Shaun (Tonya) Henry, and Corey (Nikkie) Gibson; daughter Christina (Robbie) Hulett; grandchildren Aaron (Lana) Henry, Brett Henry, Carter Henry, Joshua Morrow, Savanna Gibson, and Paige Gibson; great-grandchildren; and many other beloved family members and friends.

A celebration of Bud’s life will be held on February 8, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Higbee Lions Club in Higbee, MO. In the meantime, raise a toast, tell a good story, and remember him with a smile.
