Ruth Shields, 74, Kansas City, MO passed away July 4, 2006 at Kansas City Hospice House. Ruth was born July 23, 1931 in Brsddeyville, IA to Joseph and Maude (Cole) Potter. She was baptized in the Christian Church in Burlington Junction, MO. Ruth married William E. Stafford in February of 1949. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William E. Stafford; brothers, William, Joseph, and Lewis Potter and sisters, June Potter and Elva Williams. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Richard Shields; children, Karen Hall and her husband, Robert, Maryville, MO, Evelyn Bellin, KCMO, Carol Self, KCMO and William Stafford and his wife, Marie, KCMO; sisters, Lola Mae Hackett, Betty Messbarger and Loreen Dowell; 5 grandchildren, Jo Beth ancona, Amy Caponetto Mitchell, Anthony Maciel, Jr., William Sr. and Joseph Stafford; 5 great-grandchildren, Frans and Joseph Ancona, William and Brianna Stafford and Anna Mitchell. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction, MO under the direction of Barr-Merrick Funeral Home.
