Sandra Lee “Sandi” Walker, 78, of Independence, MO passed away on July 6, 2019, after battling back from a brain stroke and over a month of hospital care at KU Medical Center. She was ready to return Home to the Lord and be reunited with her beloved husband, James Truman Walker Jr; oldest son, James Truman Walker III, and both parents, Brice & Elva Brasel, all whom she lost and preceded her in death way too soon.
Sandi is survived by her son, Jeffery Lee Walker and daughter-in-law, Barbi Walker of Independence, MO; three grandchildren: Jackson Walker, Joseph Walker and Jordan Walker; cousin, Carol; extended family and many friends including her neighborhood friends (especially JoAnn), and her Beauty Shop family (Connie & Cindy) who have cut and styled her hair for over 30 years.
Sandi was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching all sports, especially her Alma Mater Missouri Tigers, the KC Chiefs, Royals, tennis, golf, skating, racing, ultimate fighting and even bull riding. Some of her fondest memories were raising her two sons, watching them participate in ITC track and playing football; trips to the Lake of the Ozarks; sun-bathing at the pool; playing bridge; bowling; family BBQ’s; puzzle-building during the winter months and spending the Holidays with her family. Christmas was her all-time favorite. There is nothing she loved more than her family and being a mother and “Grandma Walker” to her three grandchildren.
She often said “Family is Forever” and so forever we shall keep her spirit and memory alive in our hearts.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 5:00 – 6:30pm with a memorial service following at 6:30pm at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133, 816-313-1677.
