Sandra Vinzant

On July 2, 2021, Sandra Vinzant (aka Queen Mother) died peacefully in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 81 years old.

Sandy is survived by her daughter Denise, son’s Michael and Gil, and step-daughter Marta. As well as her grandchildren, Julie, Danielle, Christopher, Aaron, and Joey and great-grandchildren Maia, Myles, and Madison. She was proceeded in death by her parents Alexander and Esther and her husband of 48 years, Marty Vinzant.

Sandy was born in April 1940 to Alexander and Esther West. She was raised in Kansas City, MO and lived here the rest of her life where she raised her three children and held many different jobs throughout the years. She loved to shop, cook, entertain, decorate, and stay up to date on all the latest trends and fashions. She was strong, determined, and fiercely independent and will be greatly missed by so many.

Sandy’s last wish was to not be mourned, but to celebrated, and wanted to spend eternity at the beach so in honoring her last wishes her ashes will be spread at a beach at a later date and time.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at KC Hospice who provided invaluable care during her final days. So in lieu of flowers please considering donating to KC Hospice.

Sandy was a neighbor, friend and confidant. I will miss her. She was the most social person I have ever known, and everybody’s friend. She had a sparkle, a laugh, and wit without compare.

Sandy will be missed by all of us who got to know her at our neighborhood Ladies Luncheons. She was so friendly and always laughing! I miss seeing her out walking her dog around our community.

Sandy moved in next door shortly after my late wife Nancy and I arrived in July 2013. She and Nancy hit it of quickly and became close friends. “Porch-time” on our front porch was a great time for them to visit, have a glass of wine and some girl talk. I’ll miss Sandy as a neighbor and friend!

God got a good one. I have lots of memories of my friend Sandy. Lots of lunches, hand and card games, stitchers and a trip to Florida. She was such a kind and gentle person & friend. So many of us will ever forget her.

What can I say about Ms. Sandy. She was the most awesome person. Loving, caring and always worrying about me. She was like a second mom to me and was always saying something silly and making everyone laugh. I love her from the bottom of my heart and will always cherish the time we had spent hanging out .

My Dear Sandy aka as my KC Mom. We have so many memories. From riding to work together during ice storms, celebrating birthdays, shopping for my dress that I wore in my sons wedding, to lunches when you just couldn’t get out and doing Diamond paint. I will always cherish our time and miss you dearly from the bottom of my heart. I love you KC mom!

Sandy was a fun loving lady. She would come into the store Denise was working at. Fresh from her work out at Curves. Dressed in her matching clothes. So very cute! Full of energy and ready for the day. We all called her Mom. She was so proud of her daughter Denise as well as the rest of her family. She was a ray of sunshine in our lives. She will truly be missed by all of us. May she be the angel that guides us. God bless your family and thank you for the time we were allowed to know her. Spread your wings and fly Sandy. You are loved by so many!

I met Sandy at Imolene’s, who was married to my cousin Tim Hartnett, our husband’s were in the IATSE #31. I immediately loved her she was fun, warm and just great to be around. I didn’t see her often but when I did we immediately had a connection. Denise I know you will miss her terribly, but she is still watching over you.

Ms. Sandy was an amazing woman. The thing I will remember most about her is that smile and laugh. That smile was infectious and could brighten a room. Denise, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. And when the sun rises I will know it’s Ms.Sandy smiling down on us.

So sad to learn of Sandy’s passing. We are grateful for her daughter Denise who introduced us and shared Queen Mother with us for so many years. We have fond memories of our time in KC as well as her visits to us in Fairhope and when at the beach. What a special lady she was. We all were blessed to have so many happy memories.
