Scott Tutewiler Truby

Scott Tutewiler Truby passed away on April 25th 2026. Scott was born December 9th 1953 as the youngest child of Marylou (nee Tutewiler) and William Truby Sr in Atlanta GA. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1972. He joined the US Navy in 1974 serving as a Corpsman until 1980. Scott met Lynne Morgan while serving in the Navy. They married in 1976 having their only son Chris in 1978. After leaving the Navy and moving to the Kansas City area in 1980 he worked as a X-ray Technician at several local hospitals working his way into Cat Scan in the 1990s.

In his free time Scott loved music especially bluegrass. He enjoyed playing guitar, mandolin, and he would even go on to play upright bass in the band Harold the Hawk and His Gang Willard with Chris and his friend Paul. In the mid 2000s he joined the American Legion, the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard Riders serving as ALR Direct for American Legion post 21 from 2010-2011. In the years he rode, he stood guard at the funerals for hundreds of veterans. After retiring from St Marys Hospital in Blue Springs in 2018, Scott would develop an interest in wildlife. He enjoyed moderating and watching the YouTube Channel Woodland Critter Quest. Scott also enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all their school and sports activities.

Scott was proceeded in death by his parents William Truby Sr and Marylou Truby, brothers David Truby (Vicky) and William Truby Jr (Dottie). He is survived by his son Chris (Andrea), Grandchildren Emily and Brock, and brother Duke (Kay). Scott was an amazing father, brother, son, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

Internment with Military Honors will take place Friday May 29, 2026 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery located in Higginsville Missouri. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion located at 1001 W 22nd Street Higginsville Missouri on Saturday May 30, 2026 from 11am 1pm.
