Sheila Rachell Osborn

Sheila Rachell Osborn, 53, passed away on January 3, 2018. She was born on April 27, 1964 to Jack E. Tatom and Rose Merideth Tatom in Kansas City, Missouri.

Sheila was always one to grab life by the horns and known as the daredevil of her family .  She taught herself how to ride a bike, swim, and even water ski at a young age. She was full of laughter and thoroughly enjoyed a good joke even if it was off-color. She found lots of joy in reading, especially the works of J.D. Robb. She was the eternal artist, seeing the beauty in all things and striving to capture it in her work. People were always drawn to Sheila leading to a running joke that she had “talk to me” written on her forehead. Sheila used this skill set in her over 20 years of service for NAMI-KC, where she helped and advocated for those living with mental illness and their families.

Preceded by: brother Jack Jr., nephew Brandon, father Jack Sr, and grandparents

Survived by: son Dustin (Kimberly), mother Rose Mary, sisters Sheree and Stacy (Ronald), grandson Joshua,  niece and nephews; Angela, Brent and Trevor, great nieces and nephew; Sara, Autumn, and Aidan, and many cousins.

Memorial service will be held on January 10, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, Missouri, 64133. Visitation will start one hour before the memorial service at 6:00 P.M.

I’m so sorry Dustin and Kim. You’ll be in my prayers. This poem has brought me some consolation over the past year:

Although we seem so far apart
Your’re always here within our hearts.
You filled our lives with joy and pleasure
You were to us a precious treasure.
A little while shall pass and then,
We’ll see each other once again.
Loved, remembered and held so dear,
In minds and hearts your’re always here.

I have just learned of Sheila’s passing. She left this earth last January 2018. She was a special person that helped many people in her work with NAMI-KC and Suicide Survivors Network throughout the metro. Thank you Sheila for all your love and support.
