Shelley L. Day

Shelley Lea Day, 59, of Raytown, Missouri passed away on Monday, October 31st, 2016.

Shelley was born in Sedalia, Missouri to Robert and Joyce (Ash) Elkins. Shelley recently retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Division. She was a 1996 graduate of UCM Warrensburg and a 1975 graduate of Raytown High School. Shelley was well known at her tomato stand on Willow in Raytown.

Preceding her in death were her father Robert Elkins of Raytown and two of her best friends Kathy Carter and Beth Winningham.

Surviving are her husband of 38 years Randy Day of Raytown, Missouri, her mother Joyce Elkins of Raytown, Missouri, and her son Michael Bowen of Raytown, Missouri, and her daughter and son in law Angie Dark and Bobby Dark of Kingsville Missouri, and Kay Kao Yamashita of Japan. And many others that called her Mom. Grandchildren; Dayton Saling, Ethan Taylor, Jacob Taylor, Nathan Dark, Megan Dark, Dharma Yamashita and many others that called her Grandma.

Visitation will be Friday November 4th at 6pm and service at 7pm Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133.

The family has suggested in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the local Raytown food bank R.E.A.P. or Mother’s Refuge.
