Shelley Liston

Shelley Liston, 53, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on June 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Shelley was born on June 28, 1972, in Missouri to Marilyn Turner. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, nurse practitioner, and friend whose life was centered around caring for others.

Shelley was married to her husband, Brent Liston, and together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. She was the proud mother of Caden Liston, Hadley Liston, and Ana Lura, and her husband, Thomas, and the loving grandmother of Declan and Rowan Lura.

Shelley earned her master’s degree in nursing and worked as a nurse practitioner. She had a natural gift for taking care of people, and her kindness and compassion were not limited to her work — they were part of who she was every day. She had a way of making people feel loved, welcomed, and cared for, whether it was with a warm hug, a listening ear, or by making sure the cabinet was always full of snacks. She opened her home and her heart to others, and she had a special way of making her kids’ friends feel like they were part of the family.

Shelley also loved her dogs, Sam and Benton, who were a special part of her life and family. Sam was always by her side, bringing her comfort and companionship, especially when she needed it most. She loved them deeply and spoiled them like only she could.

Shelley loved capturing memories through photos, playing sand volleyball, cheering on her kids at sporting events, and supporting the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. She also loved the beach — just not the ocean.

Shelley will be remembered for her strength, humor, thoughtfulness, compassion, and the love she gave so freely. Even through her battle with ALS, she remained deeply loved by those around her and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Brent Liston; her children, Caden Liston, Hadley Liston, and Ana Lura and her husband, Thomas; her grandchildren, Declan and Rowan Lura; her mother, Marilyn Turner; her mother-in-law, Barbara Liston; her brother, Jeff Turner; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shawn and David Ewaliko; her sister-in-law, Lynnette Liston; her nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Turner, Lyla Liston, Lynde Liston, and Lucas Liston; her beloved dogs, Sam and Benton; and many other family members and friends who loved her deeply.

She was preceded in death by Bart Liston, Chip Liston, and her grandmother, Katherine Bell.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas.

Shelley always had a smile on her face. She was always willing to lend a hand. A true servant with her selfless behavior . Her kindness when my father passed away 2 years ago will be what I hold in my heart. Offering rides to my girls when I didn’t have the energy to leave the house. She showed me what it means to be a part of a community. I miss you sweetheart and love you. I know you are smiling down on us from Heaven,

Please accept our families deepest condolences. Shelley was so full of light and a joy to be around, she will be missed greatly. Our boys were in grade school together and played many baseball games and sports throughout the years and she was just so welcoming to Andrew and our family spending those times together. We will be keeping you all in our hearts and prayers and may the Holy Spirit continue to be with you. The Dunn Family Eric, Cheryl, Andrew and Alina
