SHIRLEY ANN PAYNE

Shirley Anderson Payne, formerly of Independence, MO peacefully passed away with family present on June 22 , 2012.  She had been a resident of St. Mary’s Manor, Blue Springs, MO since Sept of 2008.  Shirley was born Oct. 21, 1924 in Moline, IL and graduated from Moline High School in 1942.  She married Jack Payne from Rock Island in Chicago on Oct 26, 1946.  Shirley completed her LPN diploma in 1971 and retired from Lakewood Truman Hospital in 1989.  She was active in Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years reaching Master level.  After retirement she continued her volunteer services at Medical Center of Independence serving as Past President of the Auxiliary.  Shirley was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Independence attending Asbury group when health permitted.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, brother Warren Anderson, CO, and brother Ralph Anderson of IL.  Survivors include her daughters, Edith (Edie) Payne of Gladstone, Marianne Payne Wicker of Independence and son, Pastor John Payne of Drexel. MO;  4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.   Visitation will be Saturday, June 30, 2012 from  9:30 – 10:30 with  Memorial service from 10:30 –11:30 am  at Christ United Methodist Church, Independence.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Christ United Methodist Church or Crossroads Hospice .   Mother, we will miss you, PEACE, JOY and HARMONY.
