Sidney “Sid” C. Ladinsky

Sidney “Sid” Clifford Ladinsky, 77, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away September 24, 2024.

Sid was born August 26, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up around the area before settling in Warsaw. He was one of three boys to the late Jake and Blondena Ladinsky and attended Center High School. Sid is pre-deceased by his two brothers, Jerry and Kenneth Ladinsky and survived by his daughter Stephanie Torres (Ladinsky). 

Sid was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was drafted out of high school and served from September 1966 to August 1968 and continued his service as a reservist until 1972. He served as a Heavy Vehicle Driver in the 70th Engineer Battalion, whose mission was to help establish a foothold for US ground forces. The Battalion received distinction for three Meritorious Unit Citations and the Presidential Unit Citation for Extraordinary Heroism in Military Operations. Sid received a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, an Expert M-14 Rifle Badge, and an Overseas Service Bar for his dedication and bravery.

After his service in the military, he worked security at Truman Medical Center West and he owned a gun and pawn shop in Kansas City, amongst other endeavors. Sid also enjoyed hunting, fishing and fast cars. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at The American Legion, Tirey J. Ford Post 21 at 16701 E US Hwy 40, Independence, MO 64055, on October 17, 2024, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm, with military honors being rendered at 4:00pm. Food and refreshments will be provided.

    Sorry to learn of your loss. I just joined the digital age and set up an E-mail and got on Facebook. I recently accepted a friend request from your Dad, but had not been able to follow-up on contact. I will try to attend memorial after PT.

    I didn’t know Sid as long as some people but you still create such a bond. I will miss him dearly. I can’t get his cell phone message out of my head. I will leave this message for him. Will see you some day Sid. Fly high. I am so sorry for the loss of a great guy.
