Stance Duree, born July 6, 1938, in Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away on February 26, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. Stance built a successful career in sales, beginning with United Insurance Company of America, as a life insurance salesman. Stance’s dedication and skill earned him multiple accolades, including salesman of the month and salesman of the year on several occasions. His hard work was recognized with numerous awards and trips. Later, Stance transitioned to Henrick’s Chevrolet as a used car salesman, where he continued to excel and was frequently named salesman of the month. Even after retirement, Stance proudly wore his Hendrick’s Chevrolet jacket as a testament to his time there.
Beyond his professional achievements, Stance found joy in golf, playing pool, and watching western movies. His pastimes brought him relaxation and camaraderie throughout his life.
Stance was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Ellen (Schulte) Duree; son Brian Duree; parents Sophie Long and Arlie Duree; and sisters Patricia, Patsy, Linda and Cathi.
He is survived by his children Mark Duree (Brenda), of Springfield, MO; Cathy Duree, of Independence, MO; and Chris Duree (Colleen), of Oklahoma City, OK. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Austin, Shanelle, Derrick, Colton and Mary Ellen; great children Mason, Roman, Eden, Brookelynn, Christian and Greyson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for immediate family only.
