Steve Carl Melton

Steve Carl Melton, 83, passed away on June 5, 2021 in Independence, Missouri. There will be a memorial gathering to celebrate his life on Friday, July, 2, 2021 from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri, 64133. Steve was born on November 29, 1937 to Murray Ennis and Adeline Emma Melton. He was part of a big family with three brothers, Lester, Curtis and Marvin, along with three sisters, Louise, Jessie and Claudie. Lester is the last sibling living.

Steve attended North East High School in Kansas City where he was in the ROTC. After High School he enlisted in the Air Force where he was stationed on a radar site on top of a mountain in Collville, Washington. He served from 1956-1960. Before enlisting, he married Lynda Louise Jameson on November 14, 1956. Steve worked for Safeway Grocers from 1960-1996 when he retired.

Steve is survived by his son Scott and two grandsons Spencer and Trent. Lynda preceded him in death on June 26, 2019.

Steve loved to tinker with cars, lawnmowers, go-karts, and anything with an engine. Scott attributes his interest in mechanical things to his father.

He was a patient and caring father and grandfather. He would drop anything he was doing to help us, or even strangers. He was loved and will be missed.
